Privacy!fail on lj. So not feeling the love.

Here is the news announcement. See all those pages of comments? There could be more of them. Just sayin'...

Between that and the screwed up "/" in ALL OF OUR BLOODY TAGS, I'm actually wondering if this is a deliberate move to get all us ficcers out of here.

ETA, 4 hours later: I'm feeling massive love for the internet, here. Just looked at the news post's comments, most of which are asking for the new settings to be either discarded or repaired, and I'm blown away by the brilliance and acuity of some of the comments I'm seeing over there. As of right now, there are 2851 comments, with over 700 having been added since I first saw this earlier today.  Regardless of any positive action LJ does take, I don't think I've felt like a part of such a unified front in a very long time. :)

Workaround for problematic tags

The / is dead in the water, for now, but here's how you can still get to the tagged entries on any journal or community.

1. Click on the tag you want (for this example, I'm using the sheppard/dex tag from my lj).  Hey, look at that ugly goat!

2. Tear your eyes from the ugly goat and look up at the URL. Using my example it will look like this:

http://jendavis.livejournal.com/tag/sheppard%2Fdex

3. Ok. See the "%2F" in there? Delete those three characters and replace them with a slash, so the entire URL looks like this:

http://jendavis.livejournal.com/tag/sheppard/dex

4.  Hit enter and you're done.

Now, lets say you wanted to go back 20 entries or so. I clicked on the back button, and it worked just fine, with no further modifications even though that "%2F" is once again in the URL.  I don't know why.

Also, I've tried this on various communities as well, and it works just fine, so no worries.
