The desk lamp was the strong, silent type.

Dialogue is horrible to edit.  You'd think by now I'd have mastered using the quotation marks while writing, and not shoving them in after the fact.

It seems a silly, horrid waste of time.

From here on out, I'm only writing stories about things that don't talk.  

Lampshades and masking tape and coffee cups.  

EDIT:  Or maybe I'll just have to start making characters do things.  Entirely too much sitting around having reasonable conversation.  Doh!  Oh well.
